How to Stop Playing the Comparison Game as a Speaker

Saturday, January 11, 2020

8:30 am – 11:00 am

Early bird rates end Friday, January 3, 2020

Have you ever played The Speaker Comparison Game? Of course you have - we all have. But doing so is a dangerous trap and it can be a fatal mistake as a professional speaker as it will only lead to insecurity and unhappiness. This is not easy by any means! It takes high self-awareness, self-disciple and self-acceptance to not compare yourself to other speakers. If you find yourself saying or thinking the following, then you need to course correct:

  • “My talks aren’t anywhere close to as funny as so-and-so.”
  •  “I haven’t accomplished a fraction of what so-and-so has.”
  • “I don’t have the polish or presence of so-and-so.”
You have to remember, their awesomeness does not devalue you... unless you allow it to through comparison. You have your own awesomeness to be proud of!

In this session I will share a series of tools, principles and strategies on avoiding the comparison trap and be proud of who you are, how to learn from other speakers without comparing yourself to them, and ways to ensure you are always leveling up and improving your speaking craft.

By the end of this program, participants will be able to:

  • How to identify you are playing the Speaker Comparison Game and how to course correct
  • What you should be learning from (and trying to emulate) from other speakers
  • How to ensure you are consistently and constantly improving as a speaker
